Nakamura and Tsuji recently obtained an integral inequality involving a Laplace transform of even functions that implies, at the limit, the Blaschke-Santaló inequality in its functional form. Inspired by their method, based on the Fokker-Planck semi-group, we extend the inequality to non-even functions. We consider a well-chosen centering procedure by studying the infimum over translations in a double Laplace transform. This requires a new look on the existing methods and leads to several observations of independent interest on the geometry of the Laplace transform. Application to reverse hypercontractivity is also given.

Given a symmetric monoidal category ${\mathcal C}$ with product $\sqcup $, where the neutral element for the product is an initial object, we consider the poset of $\sqcup $-complemented subobjects of a given object X. When this poset has finite height, we define decompositions and partial decompositions of X which are coherent with $\sqcup $, and order them by refinement. From these posets, we define complexes of frames and partial bases, augmented Bergman complexes and related ordered versions. We propose a unified approach to the study of their combinatorics and homotopy type, establishing various properties and relations between them. Via explicit homotopy formulas, we will be able to transfer structural properties, such as Cohen-Macaulayness.

In well-studied scenarios, the poset of $\sqcup $-complemented subobjects specializes to the poset of free factors of a free group, the subspace poset of a vector space, the poset of nondegenerate subspaces of a vector space with a nondegenerate form, and the lattice of flats of a matroid. The decomposition and partial decomposition posets, the complex of frames and partial bases together with the ordered versions, either coincide with well-known structures, generalize them, or yield new interesting objects. In these particular cases, we provide new results along with open questions and conjectures.

We prove lower bounds on the density of regular minimal cones of dimension less than seven provided the complements of the cones are topologically nontrivial.

Let ${\mathscr {G}} $ be a special parahoric group scheme of twisted type over the ring of formal power series over $\mathbb {C}$, excluding the absolutely special case of $A^{(2)}_{2\ell }$. Using the methods and results of Zhu, we prove a duality theorem for general ${\mathscr {G}} $: there is a duality between the level one twisted affine Demazure modules and the function rings of certain torus fixed point subschemes in affine Schubert varieties for ${\mathscr {G}} $. Along the way, we also establish the duality theorem for $E_6$. As a consequence, we determine the smooth locus of any affine Schubert variety in the affine Grassmannian of ${\mathscr {G}} $. In particular, this confirms a conjecture of Haines and Richarz.

We construct two families of orthogonal polynomials associated with the universal central extensions of the superelliptic Lie algebras. These polynomials satisfy certain fourth-order linear differential equations, and one of the families is a particular collection of associated ultraspherical polynomials. We show that the generating functions of the polynomials satisfy fourth-order linear PDEs. Since these generating functions can be represented by superelliptic integrals, we have examples of linear PDEs of fourth order with explicit solutions without complete integrability.

We consider Shimura varieties associated to a unitary group of signature $(n-s,s)$ where n is even. For these varieties, we construct smooth p-adic integral models for $s=1$ and regular p-adic integral models for $s=2$ and $s=3$ over odd primes p which ramify in the imaginary quadratic field with level subgroup at p given by the stabilizer of a $\pi $-modular lattice in the hermitian space. Our construction, which has an explicit moduli-theoretic description, is given by an explicit resolution of a corresponding local model.

We prove two compactness theorems for HOD. First, if $\kappa $ is a strong limit singular cardinal with uncountable cofinality and for stationarily many $\delta <\kappa $, $(\delta ^+)^{\mathrm {HOD}}=\delta ^+$, then $(\kappa ^+)^{\mathrm {HOD}}=\kappa ^+$. Second, if $\kappa $ is a singular cardinal with uncountable cofinality and stationarily many $\delta <\kappa $ are singular in $\operatorname {\mathrm {HOD}}$, then $\kappa $ is singular in $\operatorname {\mathrm {HOD}}$. We also discuss the optimality of these results and show that the first theorem does not extend from $\operatorname {\mathrm {HOD}}$ to other $\omega $-club amenable inner models.

We classify finite groups that act faithfully by symplectic birational transformations on an irreducible holomorphic symplectic (IHS) manifold of $OG10$ type. In particular, if X is an IHS manifold of $OG10$ type and G a finite subgroup of symplectic birational transformations of X, then the action of G on $H^2(X,\mathbb {Z})$ is conjugate to a subgroup of one of 375 groups of isometries. We prove a criterion for when such a group is determined by a group of automorphisms acting on a cubic fourfold, and apply it to our classification. Our proof is computer aided, and our results are available in a Zenodo dataset.

We construct a novel family of difference-permutation operators and prove that they are diagonalized by the wreath Macdonald P-polynomials; the eigenvalues are written in terms of elementary symmetric polynomials of arbitrary degree. Our operators arise from integral formulas for the action of the horizontal Heisenberg subalgebra in the vertex representation of the corresponding quantum toroidal algebra.

We show that the cohomological Brauer groups of the moduli stacks of stable genus g curves over the integers and an algebraic closure of the rational numbers vanish for any $g\geq 2$. For the n marked version, we show the same vanishing result in the range $(g,n)=(1,n)$ with $1\leq n \leq 6$ and all $(g,n)$ with $g\geq 4.$ We also discuss several finiteness results on cohomological Brauer groups of proper and smooth Deligne-Mumford stacks over the integers.

A dimer model is a quiver with faces embedded in a surface. We define and investigate notions of consistency for dimer models on general surfaces with boundary which restrict to well-studied consistency conditions in the disk and torus case. We define weak consistency in terms of the associated dimer algebra and show that it is equivalent to the absence of bad configurations on the strand diagram. In the disk and torus case, weakly consistent models are nondegenerate, meaning that every arrow is contained in a perfect matching; this is not true for general surfaces. Strong consistency is defined to require weak consistency as well as nondegeneracy. We prove that the completed as well as the noncompleted dimer algebra of a strongly consistent dimer model are bimodule internally 3-Calabi-Yau with respect to their boundary idempotents. As a consequence, the Gorenstein-projective module category of the completed boundary algebra of suitable dimer models categorifies the cluster algebra given by their underlying quiver. We provide additional consequences of weak and strong consistency, including that one may reduce a strongly consistent dimer model by removing digons and that consistency behaves well under taking dimer submodels.

Let $\mathcal {D}$ be a Hom-finite, Krull-Schmidt, 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category with a rigid object R. Let $\Lambda =\operatorname {End}_{\mathcal {D}}R$ be the endomorphism algebra of R. We introduce the notion of mutation of maximal rigid objects in the two-term subcategory $R\ast R[1]$ via exchange triangles, which is shown to be compatible with the mutation of support $\tau $-tilting $\Lambda $-modules. In the case that $\mathcal {D}$ is the cluster category arising from a punctured marked surface, it is shown that the graph of mutations of support $\tau $-tilting $\Lambda $-modules is isomorphic to the graph of flips of certain collections of tagged arcs on the surface, which is moreover proved to be connected. Consequently, the mutation graph of support $\tau $-tilting modules over a skew-gentle algebra is connected. This generalizes one main result in [49].

The Jacobian of a very general complex algebraic curve of genus at least 3 contains an algebraic cycle called the Ceresa cycle that is homologically trivial but algebraically nontrivial. Zharkov defined in analogy the tropical Ceresa cycle of a metric graph and proved a similar result for very general tropical curves overlying the complete graph on four vertices. We extend this result by considering a related, ‘universal’ invariant of the underlying graph called the Ceresa period; we show that having trivial Ceresa period has a forbidden minor characterization that coincides with the graph being of hyperelliptic type.

We construct explicit generating series of arithmetic extensions of Kudla’s special divisors on integral models of unitary Shimura varieties over CM fields with arbitrary split levels and prove that they are modular forms valued in the arithmetic Chow groups. This provides a partial solution to Kudla’s modularity problem. The main ingredient in our construction is S. Zhang’s theory of admissible arithmetic divisors. The main ingredient in the proof is an arithmetic mixed Siegel-Weil formula.

Let W be a simply laced Weyl group of finite type and rank n. If W has type $E_7$, $E_8$ or $D_n$ for n even, then the root system of W has subsystems of type $nA_1$. This gives rise to an irreducible Macdonald representation of W spanned by n-roots, which are products of n orthogonal roots in the symmetric algebra of the reflection representation. We prove that in these cases, the set of all maximal sets of orthogonal positive roots has the structure of a quasiparabolic set in the sense of Rains–Vazirani. The quasiparabolic structure can be described in terms of certain quadruples of orthogonal positive roots which we call crossings, nestings and alignments. This leads to nonnesting and noncrossing bases for the Macdonald representation, as well as some highly structured partially ordered sets. We use the $8$-roots in type $E_8$ to give a concise description of a graph that is known to be non-isomorphic but quantum isomorphic to the orthogonality graph of the $E_8$ root system.

We prove that Thompson’s group T and, more generally, all the Higman–Thompson groups $T_n$ have quadratic Dehn function.

We study the timelike asymptotics for global solutions to a scalar quasilinear wave equation satisfying the weak null condition. Given a global solution u to the scalar wave equation with sufficiently small $C_c^\infty $ initial data, we derive an asymptotic formula for this global solution inside the light cone (i.e. for $|x|<t$). It involves the scattering data obtained in the author’s asymptotic completeness result in [75]. Using this asymptotic formula, we prove that u must vanish under some decaying assumptions on u or its scattering data, provided that the wave equation violates the null condition.

We revisit the time evolution of initially trapped Bose-Einstein condensates in the Gross-Pitaevskii regime. We show that the system continues to exhibit BEC once the trap has been released and that the dynamics of the condensate is described by the time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation. Like the recent work [15], we obtain optimal bounds on the number of excitations orthogonal to the condensate state. In contrast to [15], however, whose main strategy consists of controlling the number of excitations with regard to a suitable fluctuation dynamics $t\mapsto e^{-B_t} e^{-iH_Nt}$ with renormalized generator, our proof is based on controlling renormalized excitation number operators directly with regards to the Schrödinger dynamics $t\mapsto e^{-iH_Nt}$.

We give an elementary approach utilizing only the divided difference formalism for obtaining expansions of Schubert polynomials that are manifestly nonnegative, by studying solutions to the equation $\sum Y_i\partial _i=\operatorname {id}$ on polynomials with no constant term. This in particular recovers the pipe dream and slide polynomial expansions. We also show that slide polynomials satisfy an analogue of the divided difference formalisms for Schubert polynomials and forest polynomials, which gives a simple method for extracting the coefficients of slide polynomials in the slide polynomial decomposition of an arbitrary polynomial.
