Michael E. Sawyer is Associate Professor of African American Literature & Culture and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also the Director of the Graduate Program in Cultural Studies, an Electus Faculty Fellow in the Frederick Honors College and a faculty affiliate in Africana Studies. He has authored a number of articles and four books, An Africana Philosophy of Temporality: Homo Liminalis, Black Minded: The Political Philosophy of Malcolm X, Sir Lewis, and The Door of No Return: Being-As-Black.
John E. Drabinski is Professor of African American and Africana Studies and English at University of Maryland. He writes on the critical theoretical traditions in the Black Atlantic world, with particular interest in the francophone Caribbean and mid-twentieth century African American thought. He has authored and edited a number of articles and books, including most recently Glissant and the Middle Passage: Philosophy, Beginning, Abyss.
