In recent months, federal policy changes regarding grant funding, DEI programming, and more have changed the academic and research landscape in the United States. This spring, APSA conducted its inaugural Policy Climate Survey to explore who has been impacted by recent policy changes, what people make of these changes, and how institutions have responded. The survey asked about the impacts of the federal actions undertaken by the current administration, as well as the impacts of legislative actions undertaken at the state level within the past two years. Our findings, analyzed from 1111 completed responses, indicate widespread impacts of federal actions, with a majority of respondents feeling supported by their institutions despite uncertainty regarding funding and international travel.
