Self-Inflicted Eye-Injuries

Abstract

Three cases of self-inflicted eye injuries are described and discussed. A review of the literature shows that several psychiatric diagnoses have been assigned to those who mutilate their eyes, and various unconscious mechanisms proposed to explain this unusual phenomenon.
