Extract

September 30, 1965 is widely known as the date of the abortive communist coup in Indonesia. The following year is then the beginning of a new administration often referred to as the “New Order”. It is often said that the major task of this administration is to “purify” the organization of the executive power, the machinery of justice, and the legislative in which authoritarian elements were systematically ingrained.
