To support the Editor-in-Chief, Epidemiology & Infection is seeking Associate Editors who would like the opportunity to be directly involved in the publishing processes for the journal.
Epidemiology & Infection (E&I) is a fully open access scientific journal publishing original reports and reviews of the epidemiology of infectious diseases in humans. The journal, published by Cambridge University Press, is over 100 years old and in its 153rd volume. It has an Impact Factor of 2.2 and a CiteScore of 4.6.
Associate Editors are closely and actively involved in handling manuscripts submitted to the journal, including identifying suitable reviewers and appraising manuscripts. Applicants should be sure that they have the capacity to manage the submissions assigned to them by the Editor-in-Chief actively and responsively. While submission numbers are naturally variable, Associate Editors might expect to handle around 5 to 8 submissions per month. Full guides and instruction will also be provided into the use of the journal’s ScholarOne peer review system.
Associate Editors are a key part of the journal’s editorial board, and as such also act as advocates for publishing high-quality work in Epidemiology & Infection, and participating in editorial board meetings to discuss the development of the journal and its focus with the senior Editors, the wider editorial team and the publisher (Cambridge University Press).
Applicants should have a strong academic record in the field, and ideally experience of publishing in journals, the peer-review process, and use of peer-review systems. It would be ideal for the candidate to have an active interest in standards of peer review and publication ethics.
The journal is especially seeking applicants with expertise in public health microbiology, bacteriology and virology.
Epidemiology & Infection is committed to increasing the diversity of identities represented in our team, and welcomes applications from all backgrounds, genders and geographies. An honorarium will be available for the successful candidate.
If you are interested in applying for the role, please send a CV and a letter ( 1 page maximum) to Izabella Aron (izabella.aron@cambridge-org.demo.remotlog.com). Please use ‘E&I Call for Associate Editors’ as your email subject line.
