from Part V - Europe between the Superpowers
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 19 March 2020

This included the ideological competition between two economic blocs of Western and Eastern Europe, Germany’s division, and the struggle over borders, human rights, and religion. Although Part VI (Chapters 17–19) reveals how the regional Cold Wars of Asia, the Middle East, and Europe were connected to each other in a myriad of ways, they were most clearly linked in the field of nuclear weapons (Chapter 14).
