About the editor
Dr. Jianping Shen, editor of Cambridge Elements in Educational Leadership, is a professor of (a) Educational Leadership and (b) Evaluation, Measurement, and Research at Western Michigan University, where he holds the John E. Sandberg Professorship of Education and the Gwen Frostic Endowed Chair in Research and Innovation. He has published more than 120 journal articles and several books on school leadership, teacher leadership, data-informed decision-making, and policy analysis. Among his notable contributions, he and his colleagues developed and validated the School Renewal Model. In recognition of his scholarship, Dr. Shen received the 2025 American Educational Research Association Division A Excellence in Research Award.
