The pioneering career of Ralph Johnson Bunche in political science can only be brieflysummarized in this limited space. Fortunately, an increasing number of works published inthe last decade are rescuing his legacy for new generations. I have chosen to focus mycomments on three aspects of his career: his education, his contributions to HowardUniversity, and his contributions to the discipline of political science.
