2007 APSA Teaching and Learning Conference TrackSummaries

Abstract

The fourth annual APSA Conference on Teaching and Learning inPolitical Science was held in Charlotte, North Carolina fromFebruary 9–11, 2007.

Through this special annual meeting APSA continues to promote greaterunderstanding of cutting-edge approaches, techniques, andmethodologies that can be applied in the political scienceclassroom. This conference provides a forum where scholars andeducators share effective and innovative teaching and learningmodels and discuss broad themes and values affecting politicalscience education.

The Conference addressed crucial questions in higher education, suchas enhancing student engagement via civic education, servicelearning, and assessing learning outcomes; integrating internationalmodels and into teaching and learning methods; and strengtheningefforts by learned societies such as APSA to support good teaching.In addition, the Conference reflected APSA's objective of reachingout beyond traditional approaches to higher education, and includescollege/university faculty, high school teachers, librarians,publishers, as well as international participants.
