Self-Connected Cds Nanocrystals as Precursors for AnisotropicSemiconducting Films

Abstract

Monosized and anisotropically capped CdS nanocrystals have the property toself-connect into a polymeric material. The viscosity of this fibrousmaterial can be adjusted to fabricate texturized and homogeneous coatings.These films can be thermally converted into pure CdS films. Based on thesize dependent band gap of this semiconductor, the absorbance of the filmcan be fine-tuned through the size of the particle-precursor or bycontrolling the film heat treatment. The evolution of the film nanostructurewith temperature was investigated by optical absorption, DTA, SEM and X-raydiffraction techniques.
