The JLAS Best Article Prize is awarded to the author of an exceptional paper published in the Journal of Latin American Studies from the preceding volume year. The winning article is selected by the Editors of the journal, drawing on input from the Editorial Board, and is chosen on the basis of rigorous engagement with theory and primary evidence, and an outstanding and ample scholarly contribution to Latin American Studies as a sphere of inquiry. The prize was awarded for the first time in 2018.
