The theory of industrial organization provides a conceptual base for investigation of the market structure ofspecialized industries. A number of measures of concentration exist which have been applied to marketstructure investigations. These measures are utilized to quantify seller concentration in an effort to classifyindividual markets with respect to relative competitiveness.
