In May 2020, the Bundesverfassungsgericht delivered its decision in the Public Sector Purchase Programme case, finding, for the first time ever, a judgment of the European Court of Justice to be ultra vires and thus not binding on the German constitutional system.
The decision and its impact will be explored in several contributions to our Review in the next months, and the editorial board presents the comments in this virtual collection.
The collection also features contributions from previous years, looking back at the earlier stages in the often tumultuous relationship between the Court of Justice and the German Federal Constitutional Court.
