Empowering Kuwait's educators for an AI future
Cambridge and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) are working together to train science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) educators to use AI confidently and creatively, building lasting capacity in Kuwait’s schools and supporting the country’s Vision 2035.

Kuwait’s Vision 2035 places education at the heart of building a strong, sustainable economy. Investing in teachers is essential to this vision, especially as educators grapple with using AI as a tool to strengthen learning, support every student, and prepare them for the future.
Cambridge is working with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) to train science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teachers to lead this change in the country. The project is already underway, with early workshops held in July 2025 and the next phase of work starting August. These first steps are laying the foundations that will give educators the skills, tools, and confidence to bring AI into classrooms effectively.
To design the training programme, we are partnering with Educate Ventures Research (EVR). EVR brings insights and practical design to help education systems integrate technology and AI in the classroom.
Building STEM teaching skills through four practical modules
Our training includes four connected modules that help teachers apply new ideas in their classrooms.
Creative Teaching with Technology focuses on practical ways to plan and deliver lessons using digital tools, exploring when AI can make learning more engaging and relevant.
Leading Change in Education supports teachers to plan new approaches in their schools and work with colleagues to introduce them. The aim is to build confidence in managing change so improvements last beyond the training itself.
Practical Application in STEM gives teachers hands-on experience with simulations, adaptive technologies, and appropriate AI tools. It’s designed to make STEM subjects more accessible and engaging for all learners.
Personalised Learning supports teachers to adapt their lessons for individual students, using AI-powered tools to address different learning needs.
Tailored training for teachers at every career stage
This programme offers tailored learning pathways for:
Pre-service teachers currently in training
Early-career STEM teachers (with 0 to 10 years of experience) in K–12 education
College-level STEM educators across government and private institutions
By building shared skills and understanding across these groups, the programme supports a stronger, more connected community of practice in Kuwait.
How teachers will learn and lead
We have designed this programme to take teachers on a journey, from exploring new ideas to using them with confidence in their own classrooms. The programme includes:
Self-paced online learning: Teachers work at their own pace, exploring local case studies, practical tasks, and digital tools to see how AI can support their goals and make learning more engaging.
Collaborative in-person workshops: Teachers come together to share ideas and plan lessons. Guided by our specialist facilitators, they take part in hands-on activities and discussions that turn new strategies into real classroom practice.
Coaching and small groups: At the heart of this approach, small groups give teachers space to reflect, share challenges, and get personal feedback that helps them adapt new methods in ways that feel useful and relevant.
KFAS believes empowering educators is key to preparing the next generation for a future shaped by science and technology. This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to building local capacity and advancing innovation in education. By equipping teachers with practical tools and forward-thinking methodologies, we aim to foster a culture of continuous learning and ensure Kuwait’s education ecosystem is ready to meet the demands of the future.” - Dr. Ameenah Rajab Farhan - KFAS Director General

Measuring what matters for Kuwait’s future
We designed this programme to create meaningful change in Kuwait’s classrooms. Together with KFAS, we are helping teachers build the skills and confidence they need to improve learning in lasting ways.
Throughout the programme, we are gathering feedback and evidence from classrooms so we can see what’s working and where we need to adapt. By learning from what works and adjusting over time, we'll support Kuwait’s national education goals and its Vision 2035.
Building lasting change together
Our collaboration with KFAS reflects a shared vision for education in Kuwait, one where teachers are equipped to use AI and emerging technologies with confidence and creativity to support stronger learning outcomes for students. By developing local expertise through this programme, we are building lasting capacity in STEM education that aligns with Kuwait’s Vision 2035.” - Jane Mann, Managing Director, Partnership for Education.
