Abstract

The obelisk of Alexandria played a significant role in the history of astronomy and the calculation of the solar year. While Sosigenes's work in reforming the Roman calendar is often highlighted about the solar year, the obelisks of Egypt and their use in astronomical observations provide valuable insight into ancient methods of timekeeping and understanding the solar cycle.
